The Tibetan Thangka is a well known devotional art which depicts various Buddhist art. I have been inspired by this art form to highlight various Masters in the Yoga tradition. These beautiful images capture the essence of each divine being and transmit a power spiritual energy. The fabric is silk brocade hand made in Nepal and the purchase of these materials support the Tibetan community.
Each Thangka is individually sewn with great detail to the stitching and design. They measure 26 inches in width by 35 inches in height. The wooden dowel inserts help them to hang more evenly.

Swami Sri Yukteswar
Swami Sri Yukteswar is one of the revered Masters in the Self Realization Fellowship. He was appointed Swami by Mahavatar Babaji, the student and disciple of Lahari Mahashaya, and the Guru of Paramahansa Yogananda. He is considered to be an incarnation of divine wisdom. He trained and prepared Yoganandaji to travel to America and spread the ancient and sacred teachings of Kriya Yoga.
Mahavatar Babaji
Mahavatar Babaji is known as the “Deathless Master” because he has retained the physical form of a young man for over 1,000 years. He lives in the Himalayas with a small band of highly evolved disciples and does materialize in physical form on occasion. He brought the lost teachings of Kriya Yoga back for humanity and instructed Lahiri Mahasaya to initiate sincere devotees into this path. He also directed Paramahansaji to travel to the West and spread the teachings of Kriya Yoga. Lahiri said of his great guru Babaji, “Anyone who utters his name with sincere devotion will receive an instant spiritual blessing.”
Shi Ramana Maharshi
Sri Ramana Maharshi is best known for his teachings regarding self inquiry. He would advise his devotees to reflect on, “Who am I?” to discover their true nature. He was considered a jivanmukta (liberated being) and avatar (divine incarnation) by his followers. Paramahansa Yogananda visited him at his ashram in Arunachala and commented in his Autobiography of a Yogi that “During the hours that we spent with him and his disciples, he was mostly silent, his gentle face radiating divine love and wisdom.”
Bhagavan Krishna
Krishna is perceived by most Hindus to be an avatar (incarnation) of Vishnu, who is regarded as the highest avatar. Krishna is considered to be a warrior, hero, teacher and philosopher by Hindus. Paramahansa Yoganandaji’s mission was to come to the West and show the similarities between the original teachings of Christ and the original teachings of Krishna.
